Equipment
- 1 small bowl
- 1 medium bowl (I love these Casafina cereal bowls and this Casafina stoneware mixing bowl set)
- electric mixer
- baking sheet
- parchment paper
Ingredients
Cookie Dough
- 1 cup butter, softened
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup +1 Tablespoon molasses
- 3 3/4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 Tablespoon cocoa
- 1 Tablespoon ground ginger
- 2 teaspoons ground cloves
- 3 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper
Icing
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 Tablespoon milk
- 1/4 teaspoon orange zest
Instructions
- In your mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar.
- Add egg and molasses and combine.
- In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients then gradually add to the butter mixture while mixing on low.
- Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F while the dough chills.
- Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- Roll the refrigerated dough flat then stamp with snowflake stamp and place on the parchment.
- Bake for 10-14 minutes.
- Once cooled, combine icing ingredients and lightly brush on icing.
