Cookie Dough

  • 1  cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup +1 Tablespoon molasses
  • 3 3/4 cups flour
  • 1  teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 Tablespoon cocoa
  • 1 Tablespoon ground ginger
  • 2 teaspoons ground cloves
  • 3 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper

Icing

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon orange zest

Instructions

  • In your mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar.
  • Add egg and molasses and combine.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the dry ingredients then gradually add to the butter mixture while mixing on low.
  • Chill the dough in the refrigerator for about 1 hour.  Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F while the dough chills.
  • Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Roll the refrigerated dough flat then stamp with snowflake stamp and place on the parchment.
Stamped Gingerbread Cookies dough
  • Bake for 10-14 minutes.
  • Once cooled, combine icing ingredients and lightly brush on icing.
