Sometimes you just need a little cream... a dollop in tea, a warm glass at night, a sip to dunk chocolate chip cookies. And sometimes you need a lot of cream. On those days, it's time for tres leches.

Tres leches cake is named for the three types of milk used to soak the cake : sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and heavy whipping cream (or milk).  Sweet and moist, this cake is delicious on its own or served with fresh fruit on a summer day.

Tres Leches mixing
  1. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 baker and bake for ~ 30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  2. Once the cake has cooled, create the soak by combining all 3 milks.
  3. Poke holes all over the cake using a toothpick.  This will allow the cake to better absorb the cake.
  4. Pour the soak over the cake and allow it to chill 1 hour.
  5. Mix the topping ingredients to create the whipped cream topping and layer on top (You can also use store bought whipped cream).
  6. Top with fresh fruit and enjoy!
